Customizing DMS to meet specific organizational needs can be complex and time-consuming. This involves tailoring the user interface, metadata schemas, and workflows to fit unique requirements.
Using an open-source solution is a way to save development time and leverage the benefits of a widely recognized product. However, one of the prevailing problems is the implementation process and infrastructure aspect.
During the implementation of DMS, the organization encountered capacity constraints and struggled with the server build and documentation issues. They required external assistance to ensure a successful deployment and efficient resolution of technical obstacles.
Solution Design
Our Technical solution encompassed the following
The team undertook thorough testing to verify SSH access to the new server. They skillfully deployed and configured essential Windows applications, adapting to restricted environments using portable software versions. Personalized user profiles were established, encompassing vital scripts, keys, and configurations.
The implementation process encompassed precise installation of DMS software on designated production and test servers. The team meticulously managed OS preparation, backend prerequisites, complete installation, frontend setup, and configuration of the Nginx reverse proxy. Challenges related to Java JDK 17 were effectively addressed, and the documentation was updated to encompass troubleshooting measures.
Challenges involving the Nginx reverse proxy were methodically resolved. An internal DNS issue affecting the setup was identified and rectified. By fine-tuning the reverse proxy configuration on both servers, a resilient and operational solution was achieved.
The project maintained a transparent and consistent channel of communication. Regular updates on project progress, challenges, and successful resolutions were shared, ensuring all relevant stakeholders were kept informed.
