For this project, we focused on a well-planned email migration to deliver a more secure, reliable, and scalable email environment for our client.

• Transition from a single POP3 email system (hosted on Shaw, with an email domain hosted in the U.S.) to a more robust and secure Microsoft 365 environment.
• Ensure minimal disruption to daily operations during the migration.
• Implement enhanced security measures, including MFA and Windows Defender for Endpoint.

Solution Design

For this project, we meticulously planned and executed the email migration to ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption.

• Reviewed of the existing email setup and planned the migration steps.
• Prepared a detailed implementation plan to ensure minimal disruption

• Gained access to DNS hosting, adjusted necessary records.
• Set up the M365 tenant while validating the domain.

• Configuring Outlook to download and reconfigure emails, cutting over DNS MX records to M365 Exchange Online.
• Exporting the mailbox as a PST file, and importing it into the M365 profile.
• To enhance security, we deployed policies through M365 Lighthouse baselines, implemented Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and integrated Windows Defender for Endpoint.

This comprehensive approach ensured a secure, efficient, and seamless migration to the new email environment.
